My grandparents both had been in a senior home. Then they got cancer. They had treatment, which delayed things for awhile.

But, they finally had to go to hospice.

Sadly, they passed away.

Our family had no idea where the money would come from.

But, thanks to hardworking Americans, my grandparents were well taken care of. Thank You.

Shouldn't we all feel so blessed by American taxpayers?

With the greatest of respect to you and your antecedents I'm sure the thousands of children of the Gambia who died of thirst this last week are particularly grateful to the American taxpayer. Rather them than two elderly Americans with a terminal disease.

When you consider the entire wealth of a people as a large pie, and when you start slicing up that pie for distribution to those that didn't contribute to the pie's creation, you get situations where people start fussing over whether or not they can get a piece of it and just how big a piece they can get away with.

Is this the picture desired by those who consider that the government owns all resources and all means of production, regardless of who does the work?

It should be clear that when the government (any government) gains the power to control the means of production, that it reduces those that actually create the wealth into slaves and those that scramble to get a piece of the wealth into slavering animals that will vote for anything that they hope will get them a bigger slice of the pie.

When I heard Hillary Clinton say (referring to the profits created by Exon) that (somewhat paraphrased) "I want to TAKE those profits and .....", I was not just appalled. I saw into the soul of a person that is seeking to create a society that is majorily dependent upon government fiat for their livlihood at the expense of those that create the wealth and use it as a resource to create more wealth.

I hope that people not only heard those words but also were able to see the kind of world that person is working to create.

It is truly pathetic that over the last several decades, our government has created an atmosphere where it is capable of even saying out lound that they want to TAKE something worked for by another and use it as THEY see fit. At the same time, doling out government entitlement programs that keep people financially poor and looking for the next handout.

It is very sad that anyone loses a loved one. At the expence of sounding hard though, death is a fact of life for everyone of us and the cost of fighting off that eventuality resides solely with each individual. Your parents should not have received any money redistributed by the government. Regardless of the sadness of your personal circumstance.

no, I pay way too much in taxes. None of it goes to myself. And I don't want to live past 40. That would suck. I feel bad that your grandparents had to live a miserable life for 2 years in a senior home.

Your story shows that contrary to what some believe, poor elderly people who can't pay are NOT thrown out in the street. I don't mind my tax dollars going to help those who truly need it. With hospice, it sounds like they died with dignity and grace and you've been blessed for having witnessed it. I had the same experience with my elderly uncle last year.

I guess we could have just let them pass away. I take it they had no insurance, savings, a home or vehicles, or life insurance? This **** happens everyday, you are not something new!

Would you have felt better had the Government executed them when they got cancer to save all of this tax money that was spent on them?

They must have been Republicans!

The Government does not spend this kind of money on Democrats or other people who are less fortunate!

Lo Siento!

We could have educated 5 American kids.

We could have fed 1,000 kids in Africa for an entire year!
