someone said it's because the league isn't promoting him, or the team isn't promoting him and that's not true. he is one of the greatest hockey players not just because of his skill but because of his attitude. he dosn't want to be famous. he dosn't want to be in the spotlight like ovechkin..he dosn't care about the money or the fame..he just wants to play hockey. but people are talking about it. there's an article on nhl.com. satn fischler "the maven" talks about it all the time. but he is so humble and nice. last night after he shutout the pittsburg penguins with his nhl leading and career best 12 th shutout. all he did was talk about how well his defensemen did, by taking away the passes, or letting him see the puck. it's like he refuses to talk about how good he is.and that is why he is a great player

True, most media is not talking about Brodeur's great season but yet if you ask that same group of media who the best goaltender is 98% will say Brodeur. You would think at least now they would start talking about him. When Roy was playing and they were going on about how great Roy is (Not the best in my book) and all the records he has, they said that the one record that would NEVER be broken by any goaltender is the shut out record held by Terry Sawchuk--life time 103 shut outs. Well, guess what?? Brodeur is only 11 or 12 shut outs away from that record. He just got his 12th shut out last night. So that is 92 or 93 career shut outs for Martin. If he got 12 this season, with time to get another 1 or 2, he should be able to get 12 shut outs next year. In my opinion he is the best modern time goaltender of all time.

Nobody is talking about Martin Brodeur because he has done so well his entire career. He is expected to have 40 wins a season. He is expected to be among the leaders in save percentage and shutouts. When you ask who the top goaltender is in the NHL I am sure most sport writers would say Brodeur. He just continues to shine year in year out that it is not newsworthy. I love Brodeur and look forward to seeing him take over the NHL record for wins and shutouts. He should even have a chance at another Stanley Cup. He is the best goaltender period.

I've noticed and so have many others, but it seems the media haven't said a lot about it. I think Martin likes it that way. When the season started, it looked like Jersey was going to be in deep doo-doo because of their salary cap woes, but look at them now and there can really only be one explanation for it; Martin Brodeur is having a career year. Of course, Martin rarely has a bad year.
A hot goalie is the key to a Cup. Jersey has a leg up heading down the stretch it would seem.

Earlier in his career, Brodeur played with the best defensive players in the NHL. Because of this, his talents were not given full credit for all his records. At this point, it is expected that he will put up the type of numbers that he's been putting up. People fail to realize that the Devils defense is not the same as it was when they had players like Stevens and Niedermayer. In addition, the man himself always gave the guys in front of him all the credit rather than take the spotlight that he deserves

I'm not sure why. He's a great goalie, which he has proven. He's having a career year, but he deserves a lot more credit. But also, maybe Brodeur doesn't want all the media on him. He's an amazing goalie, and doesn't get the credit he deserves. But for the least media attention, he is also tied with my favorite player, on my favorite home team, Daniel Briere. Both really good, but don't get the credit or attention they deserve.

i am not a jersey fan but i do keep up with how everybody is doing in the league and have always enjoyed watching marty goaltend.i think he is the best goalie in the league.all the center ice announcers do give him credit, although i think that they all thought because he was such a good puck handler that he was really going to have problems with the new rules, but he showed them that they were wrong. i think overall the nhl doesn't get the media attention that it deserves,if you don't have access to center ice or vs you pretty much don't get to watch hockey except an occasional game on nbc. i just spent 3 weeks in nashville of all places and the place i stayed didn't even carry vs on their cable. i never one time saw a billboard or ad for the predators, that is pretty sad that they have such a good team and no promotion. if you watch espn they highlight every sport but hockey over and over and over very little on hockey, except the big fight thursday night, maybe there should be more mayhem.but to get back to the subject marty is the best goalie in the league right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because the Devils don't get enough respect from their own team. The team isn't out promoting him. The fans aren't going to the game. I'm a Penguins fan and man I will say he is doing great this year. He is in my division and so yeah I keep some track of him as well. He has been a great goalie for years. He has never gotten the credit though. Oh and you aren't going to hear about him from the league because they are trying to promote OFFENSE and GOAL SCORING. Not promote the best players necessarily

Marty for all is skills and ability has always been a low-key guy, that doesn't play for a flashy team, even when the devils won the cup he was pretty quiet.
He plays in a league that gets no respect and even less media coverage and it doesn't help any that their division is full of stories with Philly and its terrible season and the Penguins with Crosby and Malkin and the circus that is the Islanders.

Because people dont give hockey the respect it is do. Brodeur is one of the all-time greats and a lot of people dont even know his name. I think it is quite sad. And he is doing this shut out deal in a rule change era that was supposed to benefit the shooter.
