We just bought a 86 Mazda RX-7 with a B-13 Rotory engine, the transmition seems to be good but there is no accelaration, it shoots out white smoke and the engine runs poorly, my dad thinks its a fuel filter and a air intake leak, I'm more on it just needs some new plugs and wires, What do yall think could be wrong with it?

white smoke huh?sounds like a head gasket.check the oil and see if the oil and water is mixing.it also could be going through the cumbustion chamber and out the tail pipe.

Having blown 3 Mazda rotary engines in my life I can tell you that you probably have a blown Apex Seal, thus are only running on 1 of the 2 rotors. On a rotory engine an Apex Seal is kind of like a piston ring on a piston engine. There are 3 on each of the two rotors. If one goes, you lose compression in that rotor chamber. Time for a new engine.

Mazda rotary engines are not very rebuildable. It usually takes 4-5 donor cores to make one rebuild so your probably looking at either a new crate engine or an already rebuilt one.

A pain in the *** engine. The rotor seals have left the building. This is going to be a nightmare for you. Try to find a web-site that deals with Wankel RX7's. You might find some upgrades for the engine while it's been rebuilt.

White smoke is usually an indication of water (Coolant) getting into the engine, bluish smoke is oil.

If coolant is leaking into the engine then the symptoms your reporting would correspond to the occasionally missing-mis-firing issue.

Check your rad level and see if it is dropping.

It would probably be a gasket leak, or worst case scenario a cracked engine 'block' and/or water jacket.

If its blowing smoke and running bad sounds like the apex seals are bad and will require an overhaul.

If it is puffing out whitish-blue smoke, it's burning oil and might need a rebuild. You might try tuning it up first, but I'm willing to bet it needs a rebuild.
