how often does the employers verify new employees past employment record?
are there any instances of these hitherto?

It depends upon the employer. I have changed 4 jobs for lat 2 and a half year but my previous employment records have not been checked.

depends on the level of the job and the employer. Most professional jobs they at least check past couple of emplyers, just verifying that you worked where you said you did for dates and salary you put down.

I think it's each time when they recruit a new employee. If you know some one at the workplace you might not even get checked.
