There are several methods to check for voids in concrete. The most typical two methods used would be to use ultrasonic device to send a sound wave into the concrete. The other method would be to core drill small holes into the concrete. These of course would then have to be patched. You don't mention why you want to do this, or what the concrete in question is for. Depending on the application, you may want to consider if the expense and hassle of checking for voids is worth it.

You can have it X-rayed and it is expensive. I have seen it done, they actually use radio active material to penetrate the concrete, voids will show up on X-ray plates. I think they also use ultra sound of some kind now too. I have never seen that done though.

There are many ways to do this. All are expensive to have done. Sonic testing, penetrating radar, and other means. If you have major doubts, and it is a major job, by all means hire it done. If it is a smaller job, and not a major deal, just redo it. It will be cheaper if it is not a huge job. The larger the job, the more it costs to have it done, too. You do not give the situation. A thorough answer requires more info.

if it's wet use a vibrator to eliminate voids... if it's cured, your will have to use sonic testing to detect voids
