I just downloaded AVG Anti Virus. It says it does not included a Firewall. Should I then install a firewall to my pc? If so, any recommendations? Appreciate your advice. Thanks

Comodo Personal Firewall is the best firewall out there and it is completely FREE!! It beats the nearest competitors like ZoneAlarm, Outpost etc. because you get the complete firewall for free.
It can be downloaded from (go to the Firewall section):
http://pctonic.blogspot.com/2007/02/some-useful-freeware.html
Or:
http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/

Note: It seems that you are going to use a firewall for the first time. Firewalls may seem pesky if you do not know how to operate them. So always go through the Help section first before using any firewall.

All you have to do is to make sure that your windows firewall is switched on, this software is already installed on your PC.
there is no real need to download another firewall as you can not run two or more firewalls at the same which can conflict with each other. good luck

I wouldn't use zone of norton, they over take your system, use the link below and try this one, i found this one so good it even tests your system and tell you what ports are open and why.

Free for personal use, Sygate Personal Firewall provides best of breed security in a user friendly interface, protecting your PC from hackers, trojans and DoS attacks.
New features include full-ICS support, protocol driver level protection, enhanced logging, and more.

Sygate Personal Firewall delivers unobtrusive, highly configurable, enforceable rule-based security policy by constantly operating in the background of your PC. Policies regarding applications, trusted IP addresses, ports, protocols and scheduling can be customized to support and secure any network configurations or requirements. Designed with high performance in mind, it delivers top-notch security without sacrificing your computing power.

Whether you're working, banking, gaming or chatting, it protects your computer by actively looking for hostile intruders and Trojan horse applications. If an intrusion attempt occurs, it detects it in real-time and blocks it by default. You are immediately notified and, with your approval, your Internet connection is adjusted to prohibit further attacks. Likewise, if an unauthorized application on your system attempts to access the Internet, Sygate Personal Firewall blocks it by default, advises you of the situation and waits for your approval before proceeding further.

Note that from November 30th, 2005 all Sygate consumer firewall products have been discontinued but this versions is available here for free use.

Yes, Activate the Firewall in MS XP. But be careful with downloading free firewalls, as some have scrip that either bombard you with spam mail of a kind you do not wish to receive, or worse actually will add a worm into your system.

Better to buy Internet security or firewall system from someone like Symantec, it is not that expensive and you will assured it is safe.

I received advice to not use the WIndows Firewall but to rather use the one from Zone Alarm. That one is really excellent. However my pc is very slow (old) and I was then advised to use COMODO which I did and I think it is excellent!!! It really protects you!! I would also suggest you use another anti-virus - there are two nice ones. I use the AVIRA one because as I said my pc is old. The other one which is very good is the AOL ANTI-VIRUS. Just go to aol.com and you will find it there. very good, excellent protection!! You will not regret it!!!
