in the uk, silver is the most popular colour, closely followed by red. black is also popular.

Only two colors do not turn darker between dusk and sunrise.
These are yellow and white thus they are the most safe. The USA DOD is funding something called SmartPaint. The idea is to run a select electric charge through the conduction metal surface bearing a painted color, like white on tanks for European winters turning on command to mud brown after snow melts,
and then dark green should tank leave muddy fields for forest.
Imagine saying, 'Today I want to drive white and tomorrow ?'

Red, white, and silver. The two latter because they're easier to see in the dark, and red because... well everyone knows red "makes it go faster"! (And no, I didn't make that up as a joke, some people actually do buy red cars for that reason. *facepalm*)
