Praia da Adraga, just up from Cabo da Roca, near Lisbon, Portugal. It's Europe's westernmost beach. It's beautiful in the morning on a sunny day before the hordes arrive.
I can also reccommend Agios Pavlos beach in southern Crete, and the huge dune-backed beach at Tottori, Japan.

Woolacombe beach, North Devon is fantastic. Watching the sunset over the sea in the evening is one of my most beautiful memories. The sun's reflection was like a path of gold on the water.
The stretch of Cardigan Bay between Fairbourne and Barmouth, Gwynedd, Wales is beautiful too. It's backed by the mountains of Snowdonia and feels really isolated, but it's truely fantastic! It's set apart from the commercial seaside town of Barmouth and is really quiet.

I would have said the "Blue Lagoon" in Turkey (Olu Deniz). Went there years ago, it was a fairly small resort the lagoon was stunning(pebbles not sand though)Went back 15 years later and thought i,d gone to the wrong place, struggled to find a bit of beach without a sunbed and brolley, pedalo,s and jet ski,s lined the water front, cafe bars pumping out music and smell of hamburgers.Cant understand how they think this is what visitors want.

Punta Brava Beach in Puerto de la Cruz Tenerife. Black volcanic sand, good amenities, D. Julian's restaurant for fresh fish with great salad. Careful with the sea as there are strong currents when sea a little rough.

Southern Ireland has a lot of great unspoilt beaches.
South Africa's garden route is also pretty good. Speaking of South Africa, CapeTown has some good beaches but they are quite commercial (ie: have restaurants, bars etc and are close to main roads).
