Certainly manners and respect for others is important to me. I find that people are so caught up in their cell phones and blackberries that they don't even notice those around them anymore. That's why people seem so rude these days, I think. To me, it's easy to just be polite and thoughtful to those around you. It really doesn't take that much energy. As far as judging a new person, I listen to them, watch their body language and try to accept them at face value. I try to look for good qualities in everyone I meet. Sometimes you have look a little harder to find something good. But everyone has some good.

Manners are very important in todays society, and the mannerisms that are impressive are judged individually, on a personal basis for most...Personally
I look for a person who can give "undivided attention" to any situation at hand,
deal with it in the best way & move on..."open mindedness" helps,as does
input of ones own opinion.."strong willed "people are obvious by their own accomplishments,& "good hearted" people are ones who can lighten any given situation too..=)
