I am a young black american man married to a filipina.
I really like filipino people and the close family oriented culture.
I wish that my black american family were close the way the filipino's are.

I am very much in Love with my (filipina) wife and I feel offended when I hear other americans talking bad about filipna women.

I know that there are slutty and cheap women all over the world who are NOT filipina. There is good and bad within every race.

I have 2 baby girls who are half filipina. I know that there are plenty of decent, educated, clean and beautiful filipina out there with good morals.

My job permits me to travel to Philippines often and I recognize that
SOME american men who are not affiliated with filipino's don't understand
filipino people at all.

SOME of the arrogant american men are spreading negative perceptions of filipina women.

I wish I knew how to correct and educate these ignorant men. HOW?

Filipinas have long been looked down on because many of them work as domestic helpers, entertainers, nurses and in other blue-collar jobs. They have no idea how self-sacrificing and hard-working these women are just to send money to their families back home. They battle homesickness and culture shock on a daily basis. They would do anything for their loved ones.
We may not shine among the other races of women but in time we will. People like you who appreciate us are growing in numbers. Husbands are reliable sources, aren't they?
Thank you for believing in us. lt's good to know there are people who truly understand the Filipinos.
You are truly blessed for having a beautiful family.

As a black man, you probably know something about prejudice and ignorance among people of all colors and religions. I am Caucasian (but a Roman Catholic from the deep South), and I am married to a Korean. Many Americans stupidly assume that Asian wives were prostitutes or bar girls - and only married to "get to the US". But there is very little you can do to remove such misconceptions. Stupid people remain stupid people even after being told the facts. And - there is the problem that there are some women who deserve the reputation.

Prejudice means "to prejudge"; that is, to reflect on an individual a real or perceived characteristic of a group.

When my wife applied for her fiancee visa, a Korean employee of the American Embassy in Seoul, during her interview, flatly told her that "prostitutes like you come here everyday for visas" to marry Americans, and that he was going to delay her visa. Little did he know that her uncle was the Seoul Chief of Police and her mother was then a member of the Korean Parliament. He was fired, but it shows prejudice on the side of both Koreans and Americans.

You just have to put up with ignorant people; you have to be above their pettiness.

I'm glad to hear your Filipina wife is so kind. Remember, this situation is harder on her than on you since she is the target of the ignorance. Support her, love her, and try to protect her.

You're such a nice man darling. How I wish all the people will think the way you do which are very rare nowadays. People knew that kind of concepts but just too proud & are such narrow minded, greedy, racist, and cowards. Especially, people from those rich freaking countries. They treat & think that those people belong from the Third world country have no rights to be a human but just a piece of meat. People against people, races against their own... It's an animal instinct that human have and sadly there is no cure of it yet. If they will only open their hearts & minds of everything that is happening on this world. Then there's no need to be a heartless animals. Sorry for those people who are just hit by the stones but I feel more sorry to those people who are harrased & helpless.

Sorry, I'm a guy, but felt compelled to add my comments. I too am married to a Pinay and am very happy also and hate some of the misconceptions. Mostly I hear all good stuff, though. I wonder if the things you hear are a result of racism, since you are black. I have some Pinay friends married to black me and they are very happy and everyone is welcome and open about it. I happen to think that Pinoy mixes very well with any race and the children are so cute, mine are, haha. Sorry, I had to brag. Dude, don't even worry about ignorant people, you and I both know that you can't change some attitudes. The best revenge, as they say, is to live well. People will see how happy you are and how your beloved Pinay treats you and the kids. I love to hear a story like yours, God bless you and your family and continue to be happy and take care of them.

you can start educating your friends by introducing them to filipina girls in your wife's circle of friends. most american men are hanging out with a wrong crowd in the philippines so that's the reason why they have a different opinion. my cousin married an american guy and her husband's friends would like to date filipino women because of my cousins qualities as a filipina wife. they envy him. i can say that a majority of filipina still have good moral values that they can be proud of.

It's good to know that some people still care for us Filipinas. If you wanna correct them. Think small first and make ur way to the top. Think of a small group of people first then after them the next and the next . You'd be able to encourage more people this way. And remember Dare to be Different. Dare To take a stand for what you beleive in.

thank you,we appreciate your concern for us.really greatful to have guys like who cares for us.
i am in a country right now where filipino women don't have a good image because of a certain filipina named "rose" who is known to have aggravated the circumstances that lead to the death of her husband who happened to be one of the richest and one of the most famous businessman here. (she was sued but she won the case).that didn't affect me nor the negative remarks people say when they hear that i'm from the philippines. i always try to prove them wrong by simply being me - that i'm a decent lady who finished my uni, came from a good family and didn't come here to look for an old guy who would fall for me.and it works. i get the respect i deserve from guys because i show them the real me..i think it should start from all of us,from ourselves and you could all help us too.

I know what you mean. I hated it when everybody referred to my wife as a mail order bride because I got her here from all the way over there.

You know what? You just ignore it. What matters is whats between you and her. Nothing else should matter. Ignorant people will always be ignorant. But if it really bothers you, tell them to take a vacation with you, go out and have some fun in Bohol or Boracay. They probrably would change their minds.

Thank you for caring. A lot of people I go to school with are rude to me, just because I am filipina. It's nice to know someone cares. You can't really do anything about these men, and I hate when you can't. But thank you so much for caring! ^.^
