I don't think that you can describe the ancient Mayans as scientists. The world will end when the sun dies. We still have a bit of a wait for that to happen. i.e. a good few billion years yet.

As for that asteroid a few years back. It was predicted to come very close to the Earth, which it did. It missed.

We might yet kill ourselves and even everything else, but the world will go on for as long as the sun.

Since I am older than I shoud be I will let you know that so far in my life time there have been five dates that the world was suposed to end. I am still here and the world seems to be as well. Think of this for a minute. Here where I live he date is not 2007;. It is much later than that. This is 2549 and the world has not vanished.

Yes this world will vanish for us might be the time. If it is that date according to the crit caander then it will be caused by man an not a natural thing. Are we going to have a real all out nuke war. OOPS, even that will not end the world. It will still be here and n time it will become fertile and productive. Man might be gone and that will not be all bad.

Could be. I think the Inca's or the Mayans predicted that one. Most of their predictions have been true so far (read Fingerprints of the Gods by Graham Hancock).

I also heard that somewhere in space there is a meteor or an asteroid or something that is on a collision course with earth.

Also, think of the way the planets move. Not perfect circles but ellipses (like ovals). One of these days two of the ellipses have to crossover somewhere and that means two planets in our solar system will collide. That doesn't bode well for earth either.

It doesn't matter anyway, because the earth has to end sometime. Everything does. Enjoy the ride.

The world is not going to end on December 12, 2012. The world will end in 5 billion years when the sun expands into a red giant destroying the Earth. Earth will not end just because humans are not around.

Don't think scientists and allsorts have discovered it.

The Mayan calendar indicates several dates - one of them was 2006.

Anything could happen any time between now and then.

Avian Flu - Global Warming - Mans Lunacy - Asteroid

Life may be too short to worry about it.

Stop reading the Tabloids. No reputable scientist is making any such claim beyond the Earth melting some many billions of years in the future when the sun expands and destroys Earth.

I do believe that the world will end EVENTUALLY but not for thousands of years. I think it will get hotter and hotter until it burns itself out but it certainly won't happen in our lifetime. Many people have predicted the end of the world over the years but we are still here - I do not see why it should be any different this time.

I believe it will end at some point but not then I don t think any of us will see it in our life time to be honest everything has to die eventually and we are putting the earth through some serious punishment I don t think it will last another thousand years though but i think 2021 is a bit too soon at least i hope it is !

No, I believe the end of the world is the day each one of us dies.
Thats the end for all of us.
The actual date when the world ends is millions of years away and isn't worth bothering about because none of us will be here to witness it.
Media nonsense!

No. People are always coming up with dates when the world will supposedly end. No-one knows for sure and no-one ever will!
