I'm about to go get it done..I have a few questions..

- does the needle hurt going through?
- can you BREATHE properly when it swells?
- on a scale of 1 -10 how bad is the healing process?

I have my septum pierced so is it worse than that?

I personally think the septum is worse then the tongue. (Have both). There's a pinch and u can feel it going through but it's not really painful. Yes, u can breath while it's swell. I'll give it about a 4. Here's some tips: Before u go take an ibuprofen. It's an anti-inflammatory. It will really help with the swelling. The night after u get ur piercing go out drinking. Drink nothing but frozen drinks. It will so help. I've had my tongue pierced twice because the first one closed up. When I got it done the second time a differect dude did it. He told me to drink as many alcoholic frozen drinks as I can. It'll help with the swelling and everything else. It did help. Plus, I noticed it healed faster too. Just don't kiss anything and I do mean anything for at least 2 weeks. The last thing u want is an infection in ur mouth.

Don't have my septum done so I can't compare sorry. They sprayed my tongue with an anesthetic spray so you are vaguely aware of it but it isn't agonising, just feels like a tight pinch. Is okay for a little while but it does hurt when it swells. Take pain killers before the anesthetic wears off. You can breathe fine, it's not like it swells to where it would if you had an allergic reaction to something. There is a soft spot in everybody's tongue. It's best not to choose a spot but figure the point where your tongue can fold back and put it behind or in front of that. They should do that anyway. If they don't consider your tongue's natural function, go somewhere else. It was about five days til I got used to it and it was healed enough to eat properly, not heaps of pain in that time, just awkward. Follow the advice of the piercer and you should be sweet. I've had mine ten years now and no problems.

-The needle stings when going through and hurts a bit when it goes through the top of the tongue
-Yes, you can breathe. The swelling can be kept at a minimum with ice chips in the mouth and motrin or ibupofen. But if your tongue was to swell to the size of your mouth (highly unlikely), you could always breathe through your nose.
-The healing was...maybe a 3. The 2nd day was worse. Just be sure to keep it clean and don't play with it until it is healed
-Not sure about the septum but I do not think it is bad, I did it twice and would probably do it again.

When you get your tongue pierce it doesnt hurt. Its so fast that u wont realize is was done. the thing is that u cant eat well. u need to eat light things like soup. Ur face might get a bit swollen the next day. From a scale of 1-10 the healing process would be 5. it depends on how well you treat it. oh i forgot to mention that u cant kiss until is a bit heal

I had my tongue pierced and it wasn't too bad. The needle hurts a little but the worst part is the sound it makes when it busts through. You will still be able to breathe and it heals pretty quick. Just beware of chipping your teeth once you can change barbells get one with acrylic balls, and take small bites when eating. With a mouthful of food you can't feel your tongue ring and you will bite down on it. That hurts really bad.

It just feels odd. There isn't any sharp pain, just throbbing pain and swelling. The healing process is not too bad...and yes, its worse than the septum.
