It's what they do in the playoffs, not during the regular season. Remember last yr Detroit won all those games and crapped out to the Heat in the E. Conference Finals.

People dismiss the Mavericks this season, because of last year's Finals.
I believe no one is more aware of this than Coach Avery Johnson. This team is 31-2 against teams with a current record of below .500. This team is 11-0 in the second game of a back to back.
So the knock on the Mavericks yeah, they're good team but they fold under pressure.... they lose focus they let leads slip away.
Look at last night they play at home on Monday against the Hawks than turn around and fly to Minneapolis overnight for a game against the T-wolves the very next night. And they set a franchise record for least amount of points allowed (KG and the Wolves could only muster 65 points on the Mavs!!!) and for opponent FG% they only shot 30% from the field as a team, wow!
There was a perfect opportunity for the Mavs to just mail it in, because hey they lose to the Wolves last night no big deal they're still the number 1 seed in the west and throughout the playoffs. But I'm telling you this team has a chip on their shoulder, a big chip and they're not laying down easy this year. If you've been watching them this season you know that is true.
If any team does knock them off in the playoffs it will be because the West is very deep and talented. Any team that did it will have to shoot lights out and just catch fire as a team, because straight up no one is as good as the Mavericks this season and certainly nobody wants it as badly as they do

First because they are soft. Second because they depend on the refs far to much. I have never seen anybody with the exception of Karl Malone cry as much as Dirk Nowitzki. Third because they can't keep this pace up the whole year. They have no true big man which is also going to hurt them. Watch out for the Rockets with a healthy T Mac and Yao they are the team to beat mark it down.
