The local council will pick them up for you. I think there is a charge unless you are over 60. Is there a local furniture projects in your area cause they pick them up for free. You do have to make access arrangements.i.e put it in front garden

Hi Helen as your freezer is classed as "White Goods" your local council are obliged to uplift it for free. Phone them and they will give you a date for this and you will need to leave the freezer out on the roadside for them to lift.

When you buy a new one now the suppliers have to offer to take the old one away. Otherwise ring your local council. Most councils will remove one large item from each household free per year.

if you live in the uk
you phone the council and they will pick it up for you but they will charge you 10 pounds for them to get rid of it

In the UK you can take it to the tip or recycling station - they have a special area for them but you have to fill in a form with name and address etc.
