If you one day felt emotionally that all you had to do in life, and everything you felt was all that would make you happy, would you continue to keep on living your life with nothing left to live for, or would you personally choose to end your life content with knowing that the next part of your spiritual journey would bring you that much closer to enlightenment?

I'm interested in what some people's views are, both for and against suicide, so I suppose you could also consider this question as a matter of faith and moral ethics?

Every phase of life brings new experiences and new things to learn. Being content in this phase of life is a good thing, but it doesn't mean that there isn't more to life, more to experience and more to learn. I was brought up believing that nothing is ever so bad that it's worth just giving up. Each day brings new challenges and new adventures. You never know what tomorrow may bring. Every person has a purpose in this life. Suicide is never an answer....it's an end. As I have gotten a bit older, I realize that life is never the same for very long and things you think you'll never get over, you actually do learn to live with as time goes on. Life is an adventure with all the ups and downs we go through, learning from everything we face. I say nothing is worth giving up over. I have been severly depressed and suicidal in the past. I am so thankful to still be here because my life is better now than it's been in years. I have found happiness and peace. You can too.

Well if you truely belive in God, then I dont think you would ever think of suicide, bcos God knows when to call you, and besides spitituality never arises frm self happiness, while bliss is a part of it, i dont think it is the ulitimate task to feel that you have attained all what you need to attain enlightment. If you have read any of the religious texts of any religion enlightent only comes when there is no more of your self , you are one with the god and practically that can only happen when you start feeling happiness and sorrows of every one and there is not hatered in you, this is bcos god is there in every one and if you start relating to every one, that means you are relating to god in every form.
And honestly it is a big task, only a few on earth have been able to do that for e.g. Mother Terresa. The day you achieve that, God will call for you. No one lives a minute a longer or shorter then his or her life's purpose is.
Saying this is from more of philosophical and religeous view, however I dont think this question can be answered with ethical or moral point of view as thinking of suicide by a completely healthy being ( considering that you r?) is the ulitimate death of all the elthics and morality.

I do not believe in any form of deity and never will or want to. If I felt that way for one day that is okay. I would just go find something to do like watch a movie, or read a magazine, or play with my pets, or talk on the phone and know that life is full of surprises. Suicide is not cool.
