I've been learning car driving since May '06. Till now I did 3 attempts, but I wasn't success. I changed my instructor. I'm so much worried that I couldn't gain confidence. I can't imagine driving myself though I pass the test. Please tell me some great ideas of how to gain confidence and improve good judgement to become a good driver. Thank you.

Imagine that you are a good driver.
Relax.
On your test try to forget about the examiner - if you have been taught well you will do well!
Near the start of my test I nearly knocked a scooter rider off his scooter - he drew up along side and swore at me through th widow - I said sorrow and carried on successfully with the test.
I was perspiring heavily as the examiner told me I had passed - only one mistake and I had recovered very well. Good luck!

Be aware of everything around you and the confidence will come - if you know what is happening around you you will never be surprised by anyone. You will have the basics of driving so if you stay calm you can go into auto pilot with the basics and concentrate on the more difficult aspects. something that worked for me was going to a big empty space and getting used to the feel and dimensions of the car without anything else around, then placing obstacles to manoeuvre around. good luck

Here's one for you . Take your car on some lonely road make sure no one is behind you.
Practise reversing by using your mirrors only but not the middle one just the two side mirrors and keep reversing into all sorts of spots .
Once you have mastered this without even ever looking over your shoulder you will be full of confidence and you will be able to drive that car anywhere .
Do remember on your test you have look behind you but believe me you dont have look behind you to back up safely.

I was exactly the same, it took me 4 attempts to pass my test in the end i did it. I used to panic when i had to go to juntions and get the bite, i used to worry about the driver behind me, it was beyond ive been on the road for 2 years now and i dont care now, the more practice you get the better you will become.

As somebody who just passed their test almost a year ago. It's all about practice, know your own judgements, you need to know within yourself that you can do it, feel it within yourself, YOU need to be ready.
I suggest you get your own car, something to look forward to, something to be proud of, something to work towards. Have some session with a family member/friend, somebody your really comfortable with, somebody you can almost let loose with.

Overall, practice, practice, believe in yourself, and WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T JUST DRIVE AROUND, AND AROUND, AND AROUND THE SAME OLD PLACES, TIME, AND TIME AGAIN. otherwise when you pass you'll be too nervous to go anywhere else other that where your instructor took you.

Driving is not rocket science, it is not a test of masculinity it simply needs commonsense and concentration, become familiar with the controls and study the highway code till you know it backwards all you have to do too pass the driving test is to show that you are in full control and know how to do the various manoeuvres without endangering yourself or other road users.

Practice, practice practice. Go out driving with a qualified driver you get on well with and build your confidence slowly. It just takes time, don't rush it.
