I have a pretty high tolerance to hydrocodone...I have for the past month or so done it on a daily basis as I am prescribed...Lastnight about midnight I took some morphine, it was the first time i've ever taken it...It is now 5:30am and i'm still in my right mind, I feel extremely good...But I am worried because I have read on alot of websites that morphine overdose causes pin point pupils...In this case my pupils are VERY small but I dont seem to have any other side effects other than tired as hell and slowed breathing, not too much slower than normal though...Im kinda scarred to go to sleep...Is this normal with morphine? To have small pupils? Is that necesarily mean I have overdosed...Its keeping me from falling to sleep...Or is it normal to have small pupils?....Theyre still dialating to light really well...Thanks any info would be appriciated...Im just very worried...

If you are typing this well, making this much sense and sitting at the computer, you are fine. Also, if worrying is keeping you from falling asleep, then you have not overdosed. If we could just think about something else or get up and walk around then overdose would be preventable. Take it as prescribed and if you are still worried, then make sure you always have someone around to keep an eye on you. Don't know what you're taking it for, but if you're not terminally ill then be careful - morphine is very addictive. If you *are* terminally ill, then I'm sorry to hear it, but enjoy your morphine. No point in worrying about addiction - just be as comfortable and painfree as possible.

I doubt that you have overdosed, otherwise you wouldn't be able to keep your head up that long to type all that. I am about 70 Kilos, 23 and my largest dose of Morphine is 250mg within a 3 hour period. I fely really good, but could only function with one eye open. Diklated pupils and nodding off (not alseep) is normal and you should enjoy.

The easiest and most reliable way to tell if you have overdosed is a slow breathrate. If you are breathing fewer than 10-12 breaths per minute, this is a possibility. But someone would have to count them without you knowing it, because you probably won't breath your normal rate if you know someone is counting.
Also, you probably have not taken too much because you are able to write this question!!
If you are that worried, you should call your local emergency room or the pharmacist who prescribed them to you. If it is after hours at your pharmacist, call a walgreens and they can answer any questions you may have.

Did you take the dose that was prescribed to you? If so, then I'm sure your fine. The pupil thing is fine. My mother in law is 86 yrs old, and they just gave her morphine in the hospital and her pupils done the same thing. If your mind feels ok, and you can ask this question, then its unlikely that your overdosing. Relax and go to sleep. I think that your fine.
