There is nothing wrong with 2 women adopting a child...whether male or female. As long as they are able to give that child a loving home, no problem.

As long as the 2 women are good parents what would it matter if they were raising a daughter or a son? 2 women can raise a girl just as well as 2 men could and vise versa.

No. I think that as long as the child is brought up in a caring, loving environment then there should be no problem. If there is a warm family environment that is all that matters and a family environment could have two female or two male parents.

From what I read in the newspapers it appears that the only real opponents of this seem to be the catholic religion. They think that a family needs to have a mom and a dad or be an underfunded orphanage.

No it wouldn't be wrong for two women to bring up a daughter in a loving & caring environment. If you think this might make the daughter a lesbian then you are wrong as you are born gay it is not something you become. Do you think you could become a homosexual?

That all depends on the circumstances and how the child came to be in the situation. If an orphan is a relative of one of the women then it is quite likely the best available solution and one that is in the child's best interest.
If one - or both - of the women have managed to get themselves impregnated by some available male - say by artificial insemination from a sperm bank - just because she wants a child as a life-style accessory then that is quite wrong.
While there is nothing certain in life statistics show that the best outcome of childcare is most likely to happen in a family group where there is one male and one female, preferably with both as parents. Only when circumstances make this impossible - as does happen all too often - should alternative methods of child-rearing be considered. As child rearing by a single sex couple is an unfavourable circumstance children should NEVER be deliberately introduced into such a scene.

Well in my opinion a child needs LOVE and tender care above everything else. I suppose that in an ideal world a father and a mother is probably the best bet, but what with one parent families, surrogate mothering, adoption, fostering, what is wrong with same sex parents!

No i do not think it is wrong, as long as the child is loved and cared for, does it matter who brings the child up.
There are too many married couples m/f who have children and do not look after them.

No, it's not wrong, a family of two parents, no matter what gender they are is very beneficial to a child's welfare.
