SANCH.. – Everyone has a physical identity. Each comes into their own based on experiences and information unwittingly molds the person.
emo_p.. – “..a bit of both..we all have an idenity but ideas are from other people..punk's have their own sense of taste and style.. they have to see other people to know and undertsand what they have to do to stand out.”

(1) Essence, the soul, preceeds existence, or existence, cultural and social programming, preceeds essence; does the soul which enters this world with body create life, or does nature of the life born into create soul?

I forge my way and identity in life. No one imprints their own essence on me. What? With a smoking gun, my finger on the trigger and no mercy in my eyes? Just messing around with you. Our personalities are a composite of our llife experiences and those we meet.

Essence before existence, say the French.
By-product is something from the cattle industry. Unless your raised alone on an island, you will be like the humans that raise you, and very much so. Life allows lots of latitude to rearrange ones thinking, even feelings, but the memories can last a long time. Imprinted is for ducks. Education can be used to gain enlightenment. Enlightened essence would be a worthy goal.

That's an interesting postulation. Tthe impression of someone else's essence is an awareness of another life before this one. We are not a by-product, but a natural progression from that 'else' to what we are today. Mostly it's called re-incarnation, and there are safe ways to bring the memory of past lives into the consciousness, but that's not a subject for this forum.

Everyone has a personal identity - your finger prints; retinal scan for instance.
But, no one is a by-product (too inhuman). We all come to our places in life with something left over from past experiences, lessons we learned at school, from our friends, our parents, anything or anyone from whom we acquired some kind of information, which taught us something we did not know before. This information unwittingly molds us into who we are.
It is too clinical to think of 'by-product' and someone else's 'essence'. In the end, we are individuals, each one of us.

I think as profound as that sounds..at times, it is better to have the essence of many identities in order to mesh with others.

i think its a bit of both just like nature verses nurture. of course we all have an idenity but then again we might get some of our ideas from other people. say for example punk's they all have their own sense of taste and style but then again they have to see other people to know and undertsand what they have to do to stant out.
