All in Favour:
Cadee.. – Credibility is inferred on repute and appearances at the local.
Xapao.. – A reference point when one feels lost.
Alik4.. – One perceives the Self to contradict external confirmation. “It is always nice to have a connection with who and where you come from.”
Ramzi.. – “I describe myself as a very COMPLICATED person..” Simplicity appears to bring benefits where complexity does not. :: The world view would agree with that.
Illyr.. – Case as illustrated below. :: One’s sympathies goes out to you. Being overly cynical and untrusting is also detrimental in forming potential mutually positive relationships. Wisdom and discernment through experience and sound rationalisation are required in each environment unique onto itself.
Jewel.. – In tuned with oneself by practising what one preaches. Relation does not require of world view acceptance. “I am who I am.” “What is your identity and sense of self - from a philosophical viewpoint?”

Sprit.. – “Knowing who you are and what you believe in is one of the ultimate quests of mankind.” as evidenced around us, Britney Spears, etcetera. With learned experience and informed minds on the Self in context of the world, ones finds themselves.
Layde.. – “It creates a strong basis for who we are.”
Sophi.. – :: While it certainly could be, leave the prescriptive books in suspension for a second. In the primaries, is it possible to have a sense of self without identity in the above context ?
Dammar.. – As above. “A sense of self gives you an identity.”
Spira.. – Identity and a sense of self are synonymous. “Is identity a superficial thing? how you are perceived, or wish to be perceived, by others?”
Antho.. – Everyone has an identity and a sense of self. :: Disputable.

I'm a walking, talking, living, doing, expression of myself.
I express who I am on many levels and I only need to relate that to myself.
I don't really care if any one else can't identify with me - I am who I am - I can be happy with my identify and that is all that I require, my identity may not fit in with your view of how I should behave.
What is your identity and sense of self - just so I can understand from a philosophical viewpoint?

Yes, knowing who you are and what you believe in is one of the ultimate quests of mankind. Look around at all those unhappy people who are lost, trying to find themselves. I can point out one famous example. Look at Britney Spears, she is young, a new mother and now a divorse. She is frantically trying to discover who she is.
I have found that the older I get, then more comfortable I am with myself. That has a trickle effect on all other aspects of my life. My marriage is happier and I am a better mother, teaching my girls to be themselves and helping guide them on their journey to find their inner self.

sometimes i try to give up smoking. but then i panic. i have no idea who i am if i am not a smoker.
i'm not entirely sure how identity and a sense of self are different. do you mean identity as a superficial thing? how you are perceived, or wish to be perceived, by others?

Yes it does. I would describe myself ten years ago, to be way too trusting and I would go over the top to help my friends in need even if it took time away from my husband. Now I would describe myself as a real mean *itch who will help no one ever again. When my father died my friends all pushed me to the side after ALL I did for them. I was always there for them time and time again but when I needed someone there for me they just couldn't be bothered.

I think knowing oneself is the only way to grow or effect change. I can't effect any change around me until I have discovered it in my self. Where my identity lacks, so do all my relationships.
