Read books! Seriously! Books are the gateway to learning anything you ever wanted to know.
Any friend that doesn't want to be your friend based on your opinions and beliefs is not really a friend to begin with.
Find a subject that really interests you and you will find that other people like the same thing.

Not sure what ore interesting is.
Not sure why you should feel you bore people unless the only thing you can talk about is Yahoo question and answers.
Usually when entering into a conversation with another or group of people it is a good idea to talk about your own experience within the topic, or just say if you don't have the experience, but perhaps you can find the topic interesting by listening to what others are saying and even comment "that is very interesting".

This friend has obviously affected your confidence.I used to be really shy, and although i wanted to contribute to conversations, i felt too nervous.Practice when you are on your own.Find out about interesting subjects and try to build up your confidence.Once you get going youll wonder what you were worried about.Dont let a silly comment get to you.

You sound shy and lacking in self confidence. Relax, listen to what the person you're talking to has to say, and ask questions. People love someone else taking an interest in THEM. Conversation should flow if they ask YOU questions in return.

Pursue your interests. Then you will have many things to talk about. If your interests are different than your friends, maybe you need to find more like-minded people to hang around with.

Read more books. Read more everything. Engage with the world - watch the news, read newspapers, form opinions.
Build your confidence - don't feel shy about saying what you think about things.
