You might try out Yahoo's new trip planner - go to http://travel.yahoo.com and on the lower right is the link to the trip planner. Then you can put in different points along the way that you already know of, add new ones you find, and then let it keep track of the whole schedule for you.

Another tool is the AAA road trip planner. On February 20, 2007 the proprietary TripTik program, previously only available to Automobile Association of America club members, was made available to the public free of charge. (http://ww1.aaa.com/scripts/WebObjects.dll/AAAOnline?association=aaa&club=177&page=ITTServices&userid=Encrypted%20User%20ID&memid=Encrypted%20Member%20ID). I personaly like this one - as you zoom in on the map, it shows you places of interest along the way. You can change the route to make it more or less scenic, etc.

There are a few others I found on the first link below too - maybe one of these will really suit you. We live in a great country and you will really enjoy it. Don't take it too fast and look for new things everywhere - you'll find them.

Well, you could go through a few southern states and then get onto Route 66. Try to visit some cities and some parks. You should stop for the Badlands in SD and Yellowstone Nat'l Park.

i did a big roadtrip last summer from missouri to oregon.
you should go hike around Devils tower in Wyoming...it's worth the drive if ya like nature n stuffs :)
and if you go to South Dakota...don't waste your time with the Crazy Horse memorial...it's not done yet. But if you want to donate money to then have at it...we were on a tight budget so 25 bucks to see an unfinished memorial was kinda disappointing.

Yeah! You are going to have such fun! Don't take the interstate! Drive through the small towns. See how great the USA really is!
