Systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus or SLE), is a chronic disease that can cause inflammation, pain, and tissue damage throughout the body. Lupus is an autoimmune disease, in which a person's immune system attacks its own tissues as though they were foreign substances. There are five types of lupus erythematosus: systemic, discoid/cutaneous, subacute cutaneous, drug-induced systemic, and neonatal. This topic focuses on systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), the most common and most serious type of lupus.

Lupus is a condition which attacks the immune system, which basically leaves anyone who has it virtually defenseless against germs. People who have been diagnosed with Lupus can suffer from colds, flu-like symptoms, fatigue, chills, fever, etc. Lupus can also attack your lungs, heart, and kidneys.

There is no concrete blood test that can definitely answer whether someone definitely has Lupus.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that can affect almost any part of the body, most often the joints, skin, kidneys, heart, lungs, blood, or brain.

Normally the immune system produces proteins called antibodies that protect the body from viruses and bacteria. In autoimmune diseases, the immune system instead produces antibodies directed against the healthy cells and tissues it is designed to protect. These autoantibodies (“auto” means “self”) cause inflammation and damage in various parts of the body.

Its a decease where the immune system of a person actually starts trying to battle itself and other healthy cells. A lot of people suffer with it and life near enough normal lived. Often people can wake up and be so weak and sickly even altho there is nothing infecting his/her body.
