Smarty, I think you're absolutely right, he made the prodgramme did Rodney. My favourite is Only fools and horses, followed closely by Fawlty Towers, Basil was just brilliant and the script is so easy watching.

I love 'Blackadder the 3rd' and every character in it was fabulous! Balrick, Blackadder and pompus Prince. Love them! Would like to meet the actors some day.
Grew up with all the classics you mentioned... Steptoe was hilarious filthy scroundrel (bless his soul) in 'Steptoe & Son'.
'Only Fools and Horses' - classic. Del boy and Rodney as well as Uncle Albert - brilliant.
Loved that episode with the explosive blow up dolls. Also Batman and Robin at the funeral. heh.
Pity they don't do classics as good as those anymore.... they are rare to come by so I guess we all just have to cherish all those classics by watching the re-runs or on dvd.
Have got all 'Fawlty Towers' on dvd - Basil is brilliant yet cringeworthy to watch but you can't help it but watch it. Love it when he loses it!! Nutter.
Its hard and impossible to chose my favourite out of all the titles you have mentioned.
You forgot to mention 'Open all Hours' unless you didn't think it was a classic?

Not too sure about Steptoe, but the others are just in a league of there own. Funnier than The Fast Show, League of Gentlemen, Little Britain and The Office could ever wish to be!

It is a tough one but it has to be Only Fools and horses (love Del Boy) and Fawlty Towers cause Basil is just so funny I have seen them all about 100 times and never tire of them.
The one with the Germans is hilarious

I love all of those shows, but I have to agree that Only Fools and Horses is the all time best, the humour was absolutely brilliant and all the characters were hilarious especially Trigger and Boycey. Black Adder would be my second favourite, Rowan Atkinson is a genius!

Blackadder for me! The writing is exceptional, the acting is fantastic and who doesn't love a character that's a bit of a baddie and not afraid to admit it?
Example:
Baldrick: "I finally had a good idea? Permission to write home Sir, my Mother will be pleased as Punch!"
Blackadder: "Ah, if only she was as attractive as Punch though, Bladrick"
How can anyone not find Blackadder funny?

Yes i agree with you and its a shame that this classic era is coming to an end in favour of this 'realistic' comedy that makes you cringe. Del Boy, Basil Fawty and Captain Mainwaring will live on forever in the hearts of comedy fans although i dont see this trend continuing.
