I know it will mean a great insult to Tendulkar if I participate in such a question, but still I have to do to make people see sense.

Well, there´s no competition at all. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is simply the greatest player in history of cricket, even better than Sir Don Bradman. Bradman had only 4 nations to play against, England, West Indies, India and South Africa. There weren´t any TV replay system or 3rd Umpire which could rule him out stumped or run-out. God know how many time he would have been run-out without any attentions from the Umpire! He hasn´t had to rush as he was playing only the Test Match format. Could play at any pace, fast or slow. No TV footage system to notice his weaknesses and favourite areas, like these days, where every batsmen´s qualities and weaknesses are revealed through it. And the days in which Bradman played, his team was 2nd to none. No bowling attack better than Australia those days. And as far as Gavaskar is concerned. Well, a answerer rightly pointed-out his Innings of 30 in his 1st ODI. Rather than trying to chase down the target he tried to have a batting practice. Shame! Even a tailender tries to take the scores closer and when he hits few boundaries he thinks that they are in for a chance here but, Gavaskar chose something else! Gavaskar´s ODI record wasn´t even their to be mentioned about - only one hundred that too in his 2nd last match. And, a answerer here wrote that Tendulkar has got his centuries against teams like Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and Kenya, but let me tell you that Tendulkar has got eight (8) of his ODI hundreds against Australia and 3-4 in Tests. So, that´s the answer for you!

Sunil Manohar Gavaskar is better than Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar because the former did not at all wear a helmet and faced variety of fast bowlers throughout the world for a long period of time. During his period the chest pad , thigh pad and shoulder pad were not available and playing cricket with new ball against fast bowlers was much riskier.
That time the rule of restrictions on bouncers was also not there which Sachchu enjoyed too much. During Gavaskar era taunts and abusive languages were used much more as discipline rules were not so strict those days. Gavasker coolly tolerated those things much nicely which badly affect batsman's performance. Ask him about abusive altercation with Mohammed Yunus in 1987 series in India on the field when he was going to beat him. Sachchu is blind hitter but Gavaskar was not so. Latter was a technique batsman.

surely, any new born babies might agree that Sachin Tendulkar is the wonderful. because of the fact Gavaskar performed cricket as a activity taking 36 runs in a 60 over journey. the shape of aggressive batting became presented by potential of sachin, we could be happy approximately him, aside from that Gavaskar on no account took pains as a batsman yet sachin fairly took each and every journey as a undertaking. Even we could comprehend in ninety's there became a undertaking wherein Sachin became the only one gets above 50 runs and to blame for making a score above 2 hundred runs. so sachin and cricket are unseperatable issues. As a individual, he isn't particularly replaced a lots his physique language and he's humble.

It is unwise to compare cricketers of different era. By doing this you will be doing injustice to both players. Even it is difficult to compare cricketers of the same generation. This is for the following reasons-

a) Cricket is a team game and a player's success is dependent on his co-players. If successive batting partners had goofed-up at critical junctures Gavaskar or Tendulkar would not have scored so many centuries.

b) The opposition one faces. Gavaskar did not have minnows like Kenya, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe to contend with.

c) Gavaskar wore a panama hat and cotton leg-guards (pads) and ordinary gloves and faced bowlers of the calibre of Roberts, Holding, Marshall, Garner, Croft, Lillee, Thomson and Hadley with no restrictions on the number of bouncers bowled. Tendulkar had the facility of donning a helmet, polyurethene pads, chest guard, arm guard and padded gloves besides getting the favour of 1 bouncer per over.

d) Currently except for Shoaib Akhtar and Bret Lee none of the fast bowlers can be compared to the ones named earlier.

Each of the two batsmen are genius in their own right and beyond comparison.
