i don't recommend sleeping tablets as you'll feel terrible when you wake up! use earplugs, make the room as dark as possible and turn all the phones onto silent.

Recommendations for day sleepers from the AMA
Sleep in an absolutely dark room, the same as if it were night time. The brain does not engage the functions listed below unless it can be tricked into believing it is night.
The room needs to be cool enough that you need to use a blanket. 80% of body heat goes out the top of the head, and yes, will warm the room, making it less comfortable. Cool air help expel the heat.
Use soft foam ear plugs to block out noise.
At night;
The brain sorts, categorizes, and stores everything you learned during the day....According to study release just this month, this take place in that period of time just before you start dreaming ...While awake, you absorbing into temporary storage, 40MBs per second of data, the majority of which comes from the eyes;
The Immune System goes from positive mode to standby mode, than begins regenerating, making you ready for what you face the next day;
All growth and development take place at night...You gain in height, as well as breast size...Yes, guys, all that sleep you missed may be why your tally whacker is not as long as you had hoped it would be;
Lactic acid gets washed out of the muscles and is replaced with oxygen.
Proper sleep, under night time conditions, is very important to humans.

Short of taking sleeping pills, I would unplug the phone or phones, use earplugs, draw the window shades, don't watch TV before hand or don't drink too much liquids that would make your interrupt your sleep to go to the restroom. You could put a note on your front door that you are a day sleeper today and not to knock on your door. If you are tired and your body needs the rest, you'll be wanting to sleep and needing to sleep. ZZZZZZZZZZZ! Pleasant dreams.

When I want to sleep all day, I turn the phones off, and I sleep in a room where no light comes in. If you smoke pot, that kinda helps you sleep longer or maybe a couple of sleeping pills to keep you drowsy. For me.....its the really dark room that helps the most. Oh and make sure you go to the bathroom first so you dont have to get out of bed for that lol...hope that helps ya...sleep well

Take a sleeping tablet? But you will still wake up if someone knocks on the door, but it is easier to get back to sleep. However I would recommend sconsulting a doctor before taking any form of a sleeping tablet.

Jehovah's Witnesses are well known for visiting their neighbors to discuss the bible. They are generally happy to refrain from knocking at a particular door which is plainly signed similar to:
"Night worker sleeping. Please return between 2pm and 4pm, or leave a note"
