my 14 yr old daughter wants diet pills and has asked me for several weeks now if she can have mine. I told her no, she is too young and not even over weight. she wears a 3-5 jr and looks great. well yesterday I found two plastic bags filled with my diet pills and another brand stuck in her drawer. She claims she only just started that day and took two instead one. I am so upset she lied to me and stole them from me. I'm not sure what to do. so far she has been on work detail and the house hasn't ever looked so good!! :) I do have her cell phone and I have talked breifly because I am too upset to hand out a punishment. I'm totally lost now..is this a beginning of a bigger problem?

A size 3-5 is small. I would advise her not to take diet pills. She may have an eating disorder or maybe she likes the feel of the diet pills either way she does not need them.

Where were these diet pills that she was so able to get hold of them? Besides what are YOU doing with "diet pills" anyway? What kind are they? Do you need a prescription for these "diet pills" or can you get them over the counter like at Wal*Mart? And lastely...I suggest you not bring anymore into the house or at the very least don't let your daughter KNOW you have them? At 14 my daughter didn't know what I had in my medicine cabinet, she wasn't allowed in my room/bathroom at all unless I said she could go in there and she knew there would be hell to pay if she snuck in and stole anything out of my room.

Talk to her calmly about it. I understand how frustrating it can be, to be decieved. Instead of getting really angry at her, and making her do chores, and be grounded. Why dont you make her work out for 30 minutes every-other day, and tell her no junk food. If she wants to loose weight that bad, she can do it the healthy way. Lots of exercise and only healthy foods. That can be seen as a punishment, and a benifit. After the whoel speal is over between you two, mabye you should get a gym membership together. "Curves" is a wonderful gym, it for women only and it has a great atmosphere.

Talk to her and see why her weight is bothering her. Always tell her how beautiful she is, at that age they need to be reminded on how beautiful they are. She also might try to be like you, at that age I was always doing everything my mom did. Try laying off the pills for a while so your daughter can see being the way you are is normal and not everyone has to be skinny.

Its the parents fault that she is overweight. You should make sure she eats healthily and gets enough exercise.
