Which area close to Cardiff (city centre) is best for young professionals to live?
All being well I have a new job based in the City Centre most days and at times Cardiff University.

Which area is best for me to be looking to buying a house...?

Cathays
Roath
Riverside
Adamsdown
Grangetown

Where do I concentrate my search I am very short of time????????????????

I am not super rich - I do NOT want an apartment but a decent two or three bed roomed house (terrace okay) on a none main road.
Thank you in advance:-)

Please - no witty answers like Russia - China etc or sharply intelligent humorous comments ripping apart my grammar – my spelling - my moving to Cardiff or about sheep. I wastes all our time and its not actually funny.

Whoooo okay thank you all - cheers Man-O .....it seems my 125k will not get me very far. Going over Wednesday for two days and going to concentrate on Splott, Roath and Canton I think also Adamsdown.

Keep your fingers crossed for me .... will leave question running for one day and will then close off with a BEST ANSWER :-)

Maybe Pontpridd is an option but that 1,200 quid a year commuter cost it a BIG OUCH.

Hi,
there are many newly built appartments in cardiff centre, but theses might set you back a quite a few grands.
if its a house you're after, 3 bed cardiff bay is nice but expensive- +200k, grangetown is very close to centre but has a fair few ethnic minoroties, house prices vary from £150-180k, cathays is a student area and house prices are in the reigion of 200k. splott has SOME nice areas houses are about 140-170k close to centre. roath also has many students. any further info email me and i'll try to help you on sher_mk@hotmail.com

There are apartments and small houses currently being built in an area called Heath. Two bed apartments are selling for around £130,000. It's on the main bus route into the city centre, takes less than ten minutes. Bus stops outside the university and at all city centre areas. Train station nearby too. Houses look rather nice and are within your budget. It's a nice area close to the hospital with a lot of park land and open spaces. Ten minutes in the other direction, you are in pretty country side. Some of the houses face a main road but the ones within this small estate are in a quiet area. There are also town houses, built around four years ago nearby.

Cathays and Roath would both be ideal areas for access to both the centre of Cardiff and the university (assuming you're talking about the Cathays Park campus). Cardiff Bay might also be worth looking at, though it's a bit further from the university. Canton is another possibility, though again, it's a bit further from the university.

Check out the Western Mail on Saturdays for the property supplement.

Apologies for commenting on your grammar, I didn't realise you are not British.

I don't know much about Cardiff, but like any British city expect to pay a lot for a house.

It has to be Pontcanna or Canton.
