I switch the adapter of the keyboard (casio) to 220v instead of 110v. Now the keyboard opens perfectly fine, but it doesn't have sounds. What must I do?

The volume level is at its peak. I think I burn the sound card...

After I switch the keyboard, it has this burnt electric smell. Then we tried it to switch in a 110v (the regular voltage the keyboard required) it was ok but theproblem is there is no sound!

You did not mention what your normal voltage is?

If you live in the UK its 240v if the US 120v.

If you live in the US and you plugged in the power pack set to 220v its probably OK. If you live in the UK and you plugged it in set to 120v you've toasted the Casio. But open her up and check for a blown fuse you may be in luck....

Look it over very carefully. Make sure you didn't blow a fuse. Some high end stuff have some internal fusing as well. I have seen individual circuits protected with fuses that weren't meant to be changed by the user. If you are comfortable with disassembling the unit, look inside as well.

If the unit is still under warranty you can go that route and hope they don't catch you.

Otherwise, if the unit has a preamp output you can try attaching a separate amplifier. If it doesn't or if the external amplifier fails to produce sound you only have three options:

Fix it yourself. Probably not a real option or you wouldn't be on here looking for help.

Have it professionally repaired. Be sure to get a cost effectiveness assessment. There is no sense in paying $700 to repair a $300 keyboard.

Write it off and replace it with a new unit. The obvious choice if the repair cost will exceed the value of the keyboard. If you go this route, you may actually get more keyboard for less money than the one you have now. Electronics seem to be the only thing in the world that has both improved in quality and declined in cost over the last few decades.

Good luck.
