Your ego is core part of who you are, your identity. To restrict yourself and cut off part of your identity is not really psychologically healthy.

Rather, if someone is not self-accepting and willing to decide on personal changes of beliefs, behaviours, or the way they behave in certain contexts, then one would become torn with inner conflict. From the decisions to change, come the processes that will achieve this.

And, of course, always pay regard to our emotional expressions, which will be part of the above process.

Good luck! Rob

perhaps you should stop thinking and analysing so much and just get on with life(yours), along the way you will encounter lots of different situations and lots of choice, there is no point in trying to achieve something by working on it, you are what you are, as they say, you should be proud of that fact, if that path is set for you then that is where your life will take you with out you having to be so harsh with yourself , as it sounds like you are forcing yourself to do something rather than wanting to do it!

There was a quote that i was told once which has stayed with me for a long time. "Those that can, do" stop worrying about being a better person, what is so bad with the one that you are?

enjoy life, you only get one shot, live it for yourself.

you are probably the type of person who only thinks 'how does this affect/help me' about any situation. if you can remove this by thinking 'how is this situation affecting others' before yourself you will be on the right track.
