seems a bit thin to me and not as cushiony as i expected

If the carpet was laid by the supplier ask them to come back and
show you the underlay and also the samples of carpet that you chose against what was laid.

Check the delivery note against the original order or receipt.

If you purchased from catalogue or on line sometimes one can overlook points like the actual depth of carpet.

If still in doubt contact the supplier to confirm you have the correct one.

there are several different types of underlayment(pad) for carpet , the standard under layment is not very cushy no matter what quality of carpet you buy. also even an premium carpet pad will not make "cheap" carpet feel cushy
