Social work is not really training but rather education. It depends on what level you are looking at Bachelor or Masters. At the BSW level it will include a generalist orientation to social work that inclues course work in practice across system levels, theory across systems, policy, research, vlaues, ethics, and electives. It will also include about 400+ hours of field work. At the graduate level it includes all of the above plus a concentration in an area of practice (population or system). Also about another 500+ hourse of field work. Some programs will also require a thesis, comp exam or major project.
