at first I thought it looked like a space ship but i am getting used to it. I was considering getting the civic si sedan because it had 6-spd but bought the acura tsx instead.

I love the new Civic. They are getting to be very nice cars for a great price. My 2002 Accord isn't as nice as a Civic and they're the same price. Plus, the Civics have a fresh look to them that makes them stand out in the crowd. That's unusual for a cheaper car to be able to do that.

Uber reliable, Honda's Jazz has just become the first car to be sold for a whole year without a single warranty claim anywhere in the world. So Honda's quality is absolutely unrivalled.
The civic actually is one of the most revolutionary cars in recent years, it's more than just a oddly windowed hatch. Everything has been design fom the outset, rather than taking the traditional view of "here's the old car, how do we make it better". They started with a clean slate and made something thats not built like most other cars.
The downside of course is that it's a bit pricey, the base model doesnt even have a radio for instance.

We have the previous model Civic and are happy with that. When it went in for its service we were given the new one as a courtesy car.
I hated it! The rear visibility is poor especially through the rear side windows - I felt I was reversing blind; and there is so much info on the flight deck - er I mean dash board - that it was distracting. The eco-drive system was the worst, I was concentrating so much on getting more "eco lights" to come on, I wasn't watching the road.
The drive, though, was as smooth as one would expect from a Honda.

The euro-market hatchback looks fantastic, but lacks a rear wiper, and the diesel doesn't seem to give good fuel consumption in normal use (Autocar's example is averaging 38mpg, when my Mégane averages over 49mpg). I didn't like the interior when I first saw it at the Frankfurt show 18 months ago, but I was more impressed when I got to sit in one at a local dealer, and I think the Jazz-style repositioned fuel tank and clever rear-seat system are inspired. If the fuel consumption in the real world was better, it might find its way onto my list of possible next car (a list that is currently empty - I'm fussy).
I'm less impressed by the non-euro versions (including the hybrid sold in Europe, but developed for Japan and the USA) - the saloon and coupé versions are bland to look at, they don't have the clever Jazz-style packaging, and the interior is less pleasant.

I find the rear indicators less than clear in some circumstances owing to their size and position. Also you cannot see the ends of it when driving owing to the styling. Otherwise it will probably be a relaible car. As to pleasure of ownership I have a golden rule after years in the industry. Always test drive two other similar cars before buying. I have lusted after cars who have proved to be poor driving machines compared with less attractive alternatives.

if its a standard car - you know like all others - it has 4 wheels - it has doors - you get in it and drive from a to z, it will go as fast as the car in front of you - which in london is about 5mph (why on car adverts are there never traffic jams?). then its the same crap as all others.
on the other hand if it drives its self and can hold a meaningful conversation with you, and wings pop out of the sides so it can turn into a plane and when you drive into the sea it automatically turns into a boat or submarine - then wow its a great car
