i live in India, mumbai and have the same dream. i also want to make a small library. i have almost 30 books with me because its to cheap. i bought it from a second hand shop. but there is a problem i don't have enough space for that, for right now i have arranged it in a small cupboard. but u can store. may be u should first go for shopping. find store were u can buy cheap books then ask Ur family and friends to donate some of their books. then u should find a perfect and Ur space for Ur mini library. then after some years u can even rent a place or buy a place for Ur public library if u want to share Ur books with people. u can even make Ur library in Ur room. u should take care of Ur books for not getting damage. i have covered my books with transparency sheet, its a transparent plastic. if u make Ur mini library do tell me. best of luck. enjoy Ur time.

Congrat. Well the first thing you have to do is purchase a book case as this will dictate how big your library would be and protect your books from damage..
Next don't rush things, the best libraries build over time. Find an author you like, read their books. If you like them then buy more or ask for recommendations for other books you would like.
Flea Markets, garage-church or thrift sales are good opportunities to pick up more books cheaply.
Don't be afraid to get rid of books you did not like, even books you have read and liked may not do so later on, so give them away or sell them.
Best of luck.

A good way for your library to grow quickly is keep an eye out for used book sales at your public library, if you don't mind buying used books. The books are usually in pretty good collection, the library just needs to get rid of them to make room for newer books, and they are pretty cheap too. You can buy a used paperback in pretty good condition for usually less than a dollar or you can buy brand new at the book store for around seven dollars.
Another idea that will help your library grow is to focus on what you want in your collection. Instead of buying everything that catches your eye, focus on certain areas, like mysteries, sea stories, books on locomotives, biographies, etc.

Keep collecting. Look out for second-hand shops and buy books that you love anywhere. Ask people to donate old books to you. Ask family and friends.
Good luck!

You could buy books that you like and slowly accumulate them into a miniature library separated into sections like fantasy, war or scientific.
