Sauron from LOTR! Fictional and not mythical I know, but I had one hell of a nightmare last week that the bugger had grabbed me by the ankles and was going to kill me. I could physically feel myself being thrown around. It gave me the creeps!

Georgie: I know what film you're talking about! The Banshee floats around wailing in the sky and a horse and carriage from the afterlife come to collect the body of whoever died. There's a little leprichaun in it too. That film scared me witless when I was about 10.

Not mythical but fictional, so
Would Freddy Kruger or The Candy Man qualify?

The Banshee always freaked me out, even more so when I saw her in a film (think it was made my disney actually) and it was very scary.
Irish people wouldnt say she is a mythical creature though- many believe she is real

Women you have known on the Internet for three years where the way their fans talk about them makes them seem mythical and then to meet them face to face in places like Club Pedestal where only last Thursday, I met face to face for the first time Miss Chambers, the owner of the group I moderated for those three years.

She sure scared me especially when she told me what she was going to do to me and said also she was cutting me no slack while rewarding her dedicated moderator!

Medusa - I found her frightening but at the same fascinating when i first saw her in 'Clash of the Titans' (1981).

Some paintings of Medusa is nice but some can be a bit creepy like this painting by Arnold Böcklin

I thought Calibos from 'Clash of the Titans' was scary too.

Trolls... aw just love them! haha

Minotaurs. According to legend, it is a mixure of a human and horse.

also La Lorena. Its also called the "woman in white"
she is a widower who is missing her child. some say that in the night, you can hear her crying and moaning, asking for her children. this is before she comes to your window at night, looks inside, and (using her long fingernails) scratches the window with a loud sccreaching sound.

This may stretch the definition of "mythical", but those flying monkeys from The Wizard of Oz were horrifying.
