my fiance and i play. are we addicted no we only play about 2 nights out of the week for about 2-3 hours. it is something for us to do together. but we also live together. Yes people can get addicted but it is really up to you to have the will power to know when to stop playing.

My boyfriend and I both play. He's been playing for two years, and myself for only one.
It can be pretty addictive for some people. My boyfriend and I aren't addicted, but we probably play about an hour a night, which I suppose could be considered addictive if you want to look at it that way, but we get out a lot more though, and I don't wake up early, go to bed late, or stay home from work just to play...I have a friend that, sadly enough, actually quit his job to play full time...a desicion that I shake my head at...
Basically, when you start playing WOW, if you don't play on a regular basis then you'll find yourself falling behind in levels and gear pretty quickly. But if you are in it just for the "something to do" aspect of it, then that's fine too.
:) Either way, start a character on his account, just to try it out, if you don't like it, don't play it or waste your money on a separate account.

Well look at your bf.
Is he addicted?
If so, get him off and show him there's more to life than just WoW.
But if not then all I have to say is that A LOT OF PEOPLE play WoW.
Also, it all depends on the person who will get addicted to something.
I used to play that game but really looking at it...it's not to fun.
In fact, it's NOT fun because all your doing is just trying to get rare items, LvL up your character, and fight other opponents.
One time my friend was playing Diablo (now plays WoW). Lost his best character and I thought he was going to kill someone (in real life).
So yea, people do get addicted to WoW easy!
Some people will say that they're not addicted but when I was playing that game I started staying home a lot more, not being able to talk to people, dissing people and getting angry easier.
But if you want to play WoW, that your choice.

I used to, but never really got addicted to it, but that might just be because I'm too ADD for it to hold my attention for longer than 30min in a row. I told my pass/name to my friend who installed it, but he got so addicted that after 8months he went cold turkey, deleting his lv60 b/c he spent 1/8th of every day playing it. (thats 1 month of play time over 8 months) He had a tendancy to get addicted to stuff though. Before that it was Halo 2, before that it was Warcraft 3, and before that it was (my) copy of Jet Force Gemini for the N64, b4 that it was C&C: Red alert and the expansions.
Not to say it's a bad game, though. WoW is probably the best current MMORPG to date. Give it a try, but if you are on for > 4-5 hrs, thats a warning sign. If you're worried that you may get addicted, give yourself a reasonable time limit for each session.
Have Fun!

to answer your original question, yes, people play WoW. Don't start a game or you'll become addicted and you and your bf will start going on WoW dates to dungeons and stuff, and for your birthday he'll take you to a tavern and buy you a helmet or something. I don't play personally, but I know a lot of ppl that do, and they all get hooked on what is probably a great game but is not worth losing your life
