Someone was telling me to use a red colored washer? Is there a difference besides the color difference? What brand is best to use? Where is the best place to buy them at?

Every shower valve company makes a different type of washers. Some are even o-rings or gaskets of different sorts. If you think you can do it yourself, turn off the water to the house on the outside. Most showers don't have shut-offs by the shower. Then remove the handles and take them to the plumbing store. Be careful if you have hard water because it can cause the valves to break.

Chuck, the valve people have never spoken to each other at all. Some sort of a grudge. So, ALL the darned washers are different. Some flat, some conical, various diameters, different materials. Drive a sane man nuts. So, take the valve out, stem and all, and go to a friendly hardware store. Get one for the cold at the same time.
