yes, posture and breath support muscles are important. the biggest factor here is fear: if you don't think you can hold it out, you won't be able to. You need to re-program your thinking, and learn to pace your breath flow output. ( Kinda like a spray can- you don't want to let it out all in one go!)
Doing gradual exercises into the higher register will help with the fear. As you get accustomed to the way your high voice feels, the tension-thought will slowly go away. since none of us speak in our high voices ( unless we're doing cartoon voices) we have to learn how this unknown area feels. It takes patience, and being kind to oneself, because it doesn't happen overnight.
As far as long notes go, this is absolutely in the breath department. You do need to train your abdominal and back muscles to help you out here. It also takes time and patience.
Check with your singing teacher- you do have one?
Best wishes and keep on singing

practice vocal ranges, also practice different breathing exercises, etc.

maintaining long notes - stagger breathing at the appropriate times if it is impossible for you to sing all the notes in one breath at a time

high notes - while hitting the high notes, tilt your head facing towards the ground to relax the tensions of the vocal chords (i think) and use your diaphragm properly..

take a deep breath and hold your stomach in as you are hitting the high note and let your stomach out slowly, it works for me.
