yes. It can be for mere gratification of sexual need or it can also be as a sign of protest. Sometimes, its a way of releasing stress... just as how men do too.

Yes, women masturbate. Or at least those who are in touch with their sexuality do. Why? It feels good! It relieves stress... it's fun...(and I'm drunk. And horny. And I will masturbate later.) But seriously, why is there this social stigma against women pleasuring themselves? Guys do it and no one bats an eye. Don't we girls deserve a little pleasure sometimes?

Are you sure this is for a study? Because it's already a fact that women indeed masturbate. There's no news there. (Haven't you heard about dildos?) But anyway we do so because we're not pieces of wood. We have sexual desires and urges just like men that we must release.
