Its impossible to enforce this law as there are a lot more drivers on the roads using mobile phones than there are police, The only thing that may be a deterrent is confiscation of driving license, that would make drivers stop and think.
After saying that the government may be looking at the extra revenue in fines so they wouldn't want to really deter in the sense.

People need to abide by the law because they feel it is right, then maybe the police would get on and do the jobs that really affect us all, like catching murderers, rapists and paedophiles.
But a £60 fine is not enough, a lot of people spend that sort of money on a night out. Make the fine £1000 and you might get some sort of reaction. 3 points, well that's not going to worry most people either.
The simple fact is that the police can't be everywhere, and if they were people would complain that we lived in a police state.

I sure in hell hope they enforce the law strictly. The reason for that is because of all the dumb asses who can't do two things at once. My friends wanting to call and tell me about how their weekend went can wait until I arrive to my destination. Dumb *** men and women driving along talking on their cute cheap *** Razors that they happen to buy 2 years later after it was first put out on the market are just retarded. I honestly hope they make this law a top priority and do give these fines out. The people who are talking on their cell and driving are just as bad as a disruption to other people on the road than a drunken driver.

probably not you know what its like with new ideas all full of it but no action i mean we've had the driving without due care and attention law for years and it hasn't made a scrap of difference now if a ban was included then u might get somewhere but then again i'm all for banning smoking and eating while driving coz i think that is just as dangerous

I doubt it will stop me from talking on my phone. and i'm not organised enough to remember to charge and carry around my bluetooth headset. My personal thought are if you stupid enough not to clock the copper when there coming towards you then your not paying enough attension to the road and deserve the 3 points same with speeding. it's fine to do it but if you don't spot the copper that standing by the road with the camera your not paying enough attension.

not unless there is a disruption to the normal flow of traffic or an accident. If you get stopped for something else, you can bet it will be an add on, but as a specific reason for stopping, I doubt it.

Of course it will! all the police care about are catching people who can be fined!
Murderers and rapists are left to roam the streets, but using your mobile or speeding is top priority to be stopped!
