I own most of it, the bank still owns some.
My payments are ridiculously low because we built it our self. We had to contract out the foundation, plumbing, heating, and drywall. The carpentry, wiring, painting, and landscaping were all done by friends and family.
Our original 30 year mortgage was about $200.00 a month.
We refinanced almost 10 years ago and added in some other debt so our mortgage is now $120.00 every two weeks.

My parents use to rent a condo, two bedroom for $900. We use to rent a 5 bedroom house for $1200 plus utilities. Now we own a house... well we always owned a house but never lived in it until three years ago. But I have no idea what the mortgage is.
Oh, I'm in Canada.

We rent. A one bedroom apartment in Orange County, California (Fullerton, to be exact). And we're paying $900. Which is actually not a bad deal, since it's also all utilities paid...but this building is OLD and the apartments are small.
I wish we could buy a home right now, but Orange County is INSANE. There's no way we can. Probably not for a couple more years.
Good Luck buying a new home! May it be happy and filled with love and good memories, always. =)

I bought my own home when I was 20 (now 22) My first mortgage was 1136 and I recently refinanced now paying 1191 for the first and 312 for line of credit. I live in Lancaster, CA 30 minutes from LA. Myt home is 18 years old which isnt bad and I paid 242 now worth 295. You could buy a brand new home here in Lancaster or Palmdale for half a million and with good credit get a very decent mortgage. It is a very nice area.

I live in the best area to buy property. You can get a house and pay about $400 a month. Loans are easy to get. There is still a lot of lake and river property to snatch up. I am in SW Missouri. You can find a nice ranch or farm here too, or a loft apartment, condo, or a business/home. Rental property is easy to buy if you like to be a property owner/manager.

I rent, because I know I won't be in college forever. I pay $425 plus electric for a two bedroom with the bathroom through one of the bedrooms. I live in a rural city in Oklahoma.
