People who make it their life's mission to make Bush look bad say it was for oil. If we were really getting oil from there, don't you think gas prices would be lower than at the beginning of the war? In reality all oil revenues were used to provide security for a while after the initial invasion, then the Iraqi government was formed and it took control of the oil revenues. In short, we did NOT go to Iraq for oil, that's utter crap. Based on this, I don't think that the Iraq war would really tie in much to your speech, but maybe it does, I don't know. We went there to disarm Saddam (turned out we had crap evidence), and free the Iraqi people.
By the way, we didn't declare war on Iraq (so you probably should not use those exact words in your speech), we invaded (with the right to do so) based on the UN mandated cease-fire from the first gulf war which Saddam violated several times.
Good Luck on your speech, breath in breath out, calm them butterflies down... lol

Bush, Congress and the United Nations ALL said that Saddam had WMDs. He used them during the Gulf War on the Kuwaitis and on his own people, the Kurds.

Saddam also had ties to terrorism. It was proven that he 'rewarded' homicide bombers families, gave known terrorists medical care and a place to hideout, and had a terrorist training facility which included a plane and a railcar.
http://www.husseinandterror.com/ Make sure you scroll a little more than halfway down to see the satelite photo of one of the training camps.
And finally, the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis found in more than 250 mass graves:

I hope you can dig a little deeper than "No war for oil" If that were true, then where's the oil? You can't tell me there's not ONE news reporter that has information on Bush stealing oil, if it were true. You can't tell me that not ONE Iraqi working in the oil fields has seen proof of Bush stealing oil and isn't on Al-Jazeera news. If it were true, after nearly 4 years in Iraq, we would have SOME proof. Good luck with your speech.

Google a map of the Middle East. Google a map of US military bases in the Middle East and add to that the military bases of friends in the Middle East. Look at the pattern and then find where the oil is in the region. It won't take long. What do you think?
If you believe Bush cares about whether the people in Iraq are free, read about US aid to Saddam, and who was Vice President for those 8 years. You know now there were no WMDs.

20 % of the world's oil reserves are in Iraq, if those reserves were to come under terrorist control, they could be restricted in a threatening matter and play chaos on world economies. Saddam had proved himself erratic and unreliable when he invaded Kuwait and threatening to use WMD's to further his cause. It is an economic fact that the world's economies can become destabilized, even put into a worldwide depression if terrorists get control of these reserves. This is not just for the benefit of the United States, but for the benefit of the world.

Watch the documentary called "Why We Fight". It is very enlightening
We will probably never know for certain whether the real reasons had anything to do with the reason's given by Bush and his administration. However, I do believe there is reason to believe Bush went into office with an agenda of going after Saddam and 9/11 and WMD just game him a reason. I do feel there is ample reason to believe part of Bush's motivation was because Saddam attempted to have Bush Senior killed - making it, at least in part, a personal vendetta.
