First of all, there is no way to stop milk from coming in. Your body automatically produces milk once all plecental fragments are out.
Second, to help with the pain, I would take a mild pain releiver, such as Tylenol, and use cabbage leaves and ice packs (wrapped in a towl). Remember this, heat helps produce more milk whereas, cold helps to lessen or suppress milk supply.

You just have to wait it out. When I had my son my milk didn't come in until the day after I got home from the hospital. By that time he was so frustrated with not getting anything out of there I started to bottle feed. I had no leaking and a lot of pain but after 4 or 5 days it started going away and by a week, it was gone.

According to the website at my hospital :
Wear a supportive bra 24 hours a day.
Avoid warm or hot showers (stand with back to shower).
Avoid breast stimulation. Do not pump your breasts.
Take your pain medication to decrease the discomfort. Apply cold packs to your breasts to decrease swelling and discomfort.
Also, I've read that most doctors no longer approve of medication to stop milk production. It seems that there are many side effects and that milk commonly reappeared when women ceased taking the drugs. (I am due this week and will not be breastfeeding and have been wondering what I will do, as well.)

The only thing you can do to make the milk stop coming is to wait, you could buy those pads they make to soak up the leaking so it doesn't get all over your clothes. For the pain try this cream they have it's actually for moms who are nursing it just sort of numbs it, you can find both of them with the bottles and stuff in the baby department of about any store.

i have heard that cabbage leaves work. i had a baby 10 days ago and my milk didnt come in til about day 4 or 5. i am bottle feeding but to be honest the pain wasnt very bad - i am very small chested so that may have been why - one a positive note it only lasted 2-3 days and there was a little leaking but otherwise it was bearable.

if you dnt plan to breastfeed your baby again, before you go to work, squeeze your breasts to lessen the milk in your breasts.. it will take a few days before the milk would stop producing and stop the pain.. and don't forget to stop to your ob and ask for a medicine to stop producing the milk.. they have that kind of medicine to drink so the it will stop the pain and stop producing milk...

What I did was put 2 soft ice packs in my sport bra. It helped alot. Just make sure you have about 6 ice packs tho because you will need to change them every 2 hours roughly. I was told to put 2 bags of frozen peas in an ace bandage and wrap up with it.

Try putting a couple of Savoy Cabbage leaves in the fridge until cold and then put one leaf in each bra cup, don't express as you will stimulate your milk supply and produce more.

Hello,
I wrapped an ace bandage around my breasts to stop the milk from producing and stopping the pain. Your hospital did not give you an ace bandage?
Hope this helps you.................. : - O

Check at the drug store for a breast pump and release that pressure. If you don't have the baby, ask your doctor to give you the shot that stops your milk. It will dry it up quickly.
