That's like asking what's the difference between a cube and a square. A plane truss is one that can be laid flat on a surface, it's a 2-dimensional truss made up of members which are all co-planar. A space, on the other hand, is a 3D structure of members, so that the most common "space element" is the tetragon, not just a triangle as with 2D trusses. For this reason, it can be hard to diagram a space truss. You almost need a 3D computer drawing program to be able to visualize it properly.
