Hey everyone I am currently a first year student going to UCSB and am planning to major in some type of biology degree in plans of going to med school. The thing is I dont like science and I really want to change my major for next quarter. I would like to do a major such as Psychology or Sociology but I have heard those are somewhat useless degees unless you get into law school or something. The thing is Ive been told the only useful degrees are engineering degrees and biology degrees for med school. I am kinda at a loss cuz i am hating my second quarter of chemistry but I really like my 2nd psychology class I am taking. I don't know what I should do, any suggestions?

If you can't see yourself liking biology classes or choosing it as a major, then you need to ask yourself whether med school is the right path for you, cause med school will require you to have an in depth knowledge biology, chemistry and other sciences. You should choose a major that you enjoy and are passionate about, and whether it would be useful to you one day is all up to you.
You can always major in psychology and go to med school specializing in that.

You can get accepted into med school with any degree, but it definitely wouldn't hurt to major in some type of biology because you're going to need to take a lot of those classes anyways. If you just can't stomach the biology type classes, I would suggest that you do switch your major and get a great GPA because you are interested in the courses you will be taking instead of getting an average GPA because you hate the major and can't push yourself to do well in the classes.

Your considerable is lots extra considerable except you're attending an Ivy league college. yet, as between the others mentioned, a random lib arts degree would possibly not get you the wonderful interest even though if its from Harvard (however you may probable have a much extra useful probability at landing a writing/editor interest with a harvard english degree than one from a random state college.)
