All Lebanese are very much open minded people, how much do you think we can accept other cultures which are less open-minded like Palestinian/Arab culture?

Firstly, not all Lebanese are very much open minded and that can be clearly witnessed even in a questions/answers board like this one.

Many times Lebanese tend to get defensive whenever asked "certain questions". Another example is that the Lebanese can joke about themselves for as long as they like, but once someone else jokes about them or comments on something, they become aggressive and defensive.

What do you mean by "absorb other cultures"? Thats a vague expression to me. Palestinians can also be considered open minded and have a high rate of literacy, but they have a problem that is making them carry excess baggage.

Thank You.

I am French. I have many Lebanese, Palestinian and other Arab friends. Therefore, I think I can give some feedback on your question.

I don't know what is your definition of open minded, but I do not totally agree that the Lebanese are more open minded than the rest of the Arab world that Lebanon is part of. Otherwise, how do you explain all the problems that you are having now in Lebanon.

Being open minded is more than mimicking the west in outrageous billboards and half naked women.

Being open minded is accepting your own indigenous culture and reflecting it to be accepted by other cultures.

Take the Japanese culture for example. Once the Japanese were considered by the west to be a barbaric nation with aggressive intentions. But now and due to their pride and efforts in making the world understand their culture, the Japanese culture is now recognized as one of the worlds most sophisticated cultures with most advanced modern technology.

I believe the whole of the Arabic culture, with all it varieties, is a paradigm of sophistication. However, you need to accept it then make the world understand it.

Good Luck!

I think the question is too general to answer precisely, because not all lebanese people are the same. If you walk in the streets in Lebanon, you will most probably witness this. Try it, and you'll most likely see the blonde nancy-ajram-type women on one side, and the covered-up-from-top-to-bottom women on another. Sometimes they smirk at each other, but the fact that they can co-exist, I think, is proof that lebanese can be very much open-minded. Actually, i think the word isn't open-minded, it's "tolerant". Lebanese people are tolerant.
There is some kind of "legend" going around, that says that lebanese are really open-minded people, and that they can integrate any society they want. If you go in any country and ask people if they have ever met a lebanese, they will most likely answer you "yes", they have at least one good lebanese friend, and that "lebanese are so nice" or something like that. Personally, I live in France, and i must say i've completely integrated myself in french society, to the point where strangers actually think i'm french when they first meet me.

Normal. By being open minded you can absorb any kind of culture freely. But changing our way of living to less open-minded cultures might be a problem.
