One is made from Intel, another is made from AMD....
thats the main difference.

well... as always, intel's processor is always better on working, such as loading up photoshop, converting, installing stuff...
AMD's processor is always better on running with the memory AMD is better for playing game, or loading 3D graphics.
However, The core2duo almost knock AMD out of business, 5because on Tom's hardware comparison test, the 1.83GHz core2 beats the expensive AMD's FX series processor in almost every aspect.
So, buy the Core2Dual!!!

Between these two processors, it is usually the user preference. Although Intel has a larger L2 Cache than AMD X2, AMD has a consistent track record of out performing it's competition Intel in similar speed chips. AMD does, in my opinion, have a better multimedia engine.

The price of an AMD is lower than Intel, thus you ought to get more bang for your buck.

May I also add, the FSB can be an important factor in a CPU. Depending on the type of mother board you get.

If you want a solid AMD package, get an Asus Crosshair and an AMD X2 5400+ or 5600+. Remember, getting these types of CPU's require higher end memory. Low end memory (value ram) can be a bottleneck for overall PC performance.

heres an article reviews the intel (althought its for 6700) same family of cpu.
Anyway, seems the intel outperformed the amd's and cost less.
