If you just met me in a supermarket, and we were waiting in the queue to be served, what would be the first thing you say in order to break the deafning silence, or indeed just to appear friendly, how would you start the coversation? what would you say? how good at starting a conversation are you? or are you one of these people who remains mute?....what?

I would smile, and say, Nice Melons and ask you how you picked them out. I have always needed guidance on picking ripe melons, even though I know what I like. Some pick em up and shake them, some thud them. I like to squeeze them. I am confused in the veggie and fruit department.

Hah, I will talk the ear off corn, I swear... =P

Nah, but really, I like meeting new people and I'm very friendly and open. I'd probably start the conversation by commenting on something interesting I notice about you. Even just a little comment. Or maybe about something around us. I usually make a light joke or something. Or maybe a compliment. Or just smile. It depends on my mood. Then it just depends on if the person is friendly enough to want to say something back. Some people are totally anti-social and don't want to converse with people they don't know...and I hate to make people uncomfortable, so in those cases I usually just shut up and mind my own. But usually, yeah, I'm one of those people who is just really open about things.

It varies by the mood im in. if I have pms, I dont feel like talking to anyone! But I do try to smile, and be friendly, if someone talks to me. also if someone looks like they are having a bad day, I try to at least smile at them. If someone talks to me I am never rude, no matter how I feel. Sometimes its just what I need.

Honey, I can talk the horns off a brass goat. I have the gift of gab. You name it, any subject, anytime, with anyone. Good conversationalists are rare these days.
