Fabric is made up twisted fibers...

In the dryer those fibers untwist. Air flows though the dryer and there is a mesh screen (Lint Trap)Those loose fibers collect in the lint trap.
The fiber wants to stick together. This clump is lint.

The light fabrics are hard to see. The darker fabrics give the color. Sweatpants are Grey and shed a lot.

I'm not exactly sure what lint is. I think it's like all the loose thread and fabric that doesn't stick to the clothing. I guess all the lint threads itself with other pieces of lint and tumbles down to the bottom part of the dryer, since it's no longer attached to clothes. That's where the lint catcher is so I guess the lint just goes down there and stays stuck. And lint isn't always grey and blue. About an hour ago, I changed a load of laundry and when I pulled out the lint catcher, it was redish-orange.The color redish-orange does not come from any form of grey or blue.

Lint is that tiny bit of material that is freed up from a wearable item when the woven threads are rubbed either by the person wearing it or through the action of both a washing machine or dryer when it is freed up in the dryer it is sucked into the lint catcher by the drying air steam . The co lours mostly are as you say because the majority of lint loaded clothes are those co lours.

Lint is tiny little bit of threads and fuzz that wear off your clothes as they spin around in the dryer and it gets trapped in the lint filter because all the air in a dryer in constantly being pulled through the filter and out the dryer vent. Lint should appear to be the color of the clothes you wash so I would guess that you don't wear a lot of colors.....

I hope this helped
