From looking at these two articles, how do you think the economy is performing?

Here is a link to another yahoo answer where a person said that the media reported unemployment rate is very low and the media reported stock market is higher than ever.

If the stock market is truly doing that well, then companies wouldn't be closing down. Somehow the numbers are getting fudged somewhere or businesses that are closing down are trying to f*ck people.

The economy has been doing very well overall in recent months. Unemployment has been at very low levels for some time. While the availability of jobs is weaker in some regions, that is an anomaly which occurs periodically & leads to population shifts as job seekers relocate.

Despite the profit taking & 400 point drop in the market, the outlook is still very positive. Some companies have closed, but that happens all the time over the course of history as products fall out of favor, or become obsolete, or non essential based upon other market forces.

Unfortunately some jobs have priced themselves out of exustence....it just isn't cost effective to operate a business at a loss to maintain salaries which have become unsupportable due to advances in technology or science.
